I disagree. I'v always thought that if you get scammed, you deserve to get scammed for not paying attention. The scammer needs to be taught a lesson, though.

So far, at least 50% of the people I've sold anything to have tried to scam me.

When I sell 8k worth of materials for example, they put in 8g. A lot of people try to make a good deal that way.
I usually don't see anything and wait for them to put in the real price >_>

But there are lots of scams that are often not considered to be a scam.

People who sell unid items usually already know the stats...
A lot of people buy materials UNDER the sell-to-merchant price. Some guy wanted to buy a huge amount of tanned hide squares. I offered it to him at 10g each (If I sold to merch, I'd make 9g each) and he told me "no thnx, too expensive".
I bet a lot of people would then lower their price to 8 or 7 and then the scammer could go off and sell it to the marchent himself.

Like that guy who sold black dye for 6k...

Then there's also people who sell the collectors crimson carapaces for more than 60k.

Lately, the troll tusk converters started selling the collector stance swords for 5k and up...
(I call them scammers too)

But if you get scammed in GW then you really need some help. You have to press accept, you can carefull yinspect what you're buying before you're buying it.

The only acceptable excuse imo is not knowing the current price for an item (like not knowing that you can buy victo's blade for 8k from other people when you buy it for 35k -_-)

When I was selling Ecto's awhile back, I said 6k per ecto, one dude put 6 gold. lol what a little noob.

I always double check everything, I look over it 2 or 3 times before hitting accept.

I agree that they should be taught a lesson, but I disagree vehemently with the position that anyone *deserves* a scam. That's a little too close to rationalizing away the act of the scammer, IMO.

People who set out to screw someone else over, purposely, are dirty, cheating, lying scumbags. PERIOD. No one *deserves* to be scammed. If they were stupid, they were stupid, and shouldn't have accepted. But they did no *deserve* it because they were stupid. The person setting out to scam THEM is at fault, 100%.

I have made all my money by trading stuff, so I have made hundreds of trades, and have only run into a couple scammers.

one of them I reported to his guild leader who told me he hated scammers -- got that idea off this board.
thx, whoever.

mostly, I've met a lot of cool people.

They offered 55 and you THOUGHT it was 55K, where is the scam? God gave you a brain, use it.

You where not paying attention, take your time before accepting.

So that they can enjoy themselves while they are playing.

It's like asking those kids back when Pokemon was popular: "Why buy pokemon cards when you'll stop playing next year?"

Seeing comments towards scammed like: "he offered 55g instead of 55k and you pressed accept what a n00blet", nobody deserves to be scammed even if it would have been easily avoided.

These things happen to many of us by accident, it's not about brain capacity (or lack of it) if you get cheated.

IMO the only sure fire way to not get scammed is to be scammed, because then in the back of your head you will always know to check twice.

Where is the scam? you don't like the offer don't sell, you missunderstand the offer, well it's still no scam the guy offerd 55, had the offer been 55K and he gave 55g then it would have been a scam.
